A little about the Fitness Mink
Ever since I was a little girl, I’ve wanted to become a professional bodybuilder (a fitness mink lol). What 6-year old says that?? This one! I remember getting a Get In Shape Girl set for Christmas one year. It included a sweatband, leg warmers, a very light set of dumbbells and a jump rope. I was hooked after that. I used to charge my friends to be their personal trainer and put them through workouts lol. I started weight training as a freshman in high school. It was my favorite class! I played softball, basketball and ran track, so I stayed very active. Once I graduated, I slacked off on the weight lifting. Got married, graduated from nursing school, had a child, etc. Intermittently I would start working out again. I’ve always loved being in a gym.
At the age of 28, 1 year after my daughter was born, we took pictures at her 1st birthday party. I was disgusted with myself! I had gained so much weight! My heaviest was 185lb and a size 14. I remember thinking, what the hell is wrong with you. This isn’t you!! Within 8 months, I had lost 40lbs and starting back in the gym regularly. Most of that weight loss was diet alone. And after graduating from anesthesia school at the age of 33, I decided to pursue my dream and compete. I competed in 11 shows my first 3 years! I placed well, I had a blast and have never looked back. If I can help at least 1 person reach their goal or achieve their dream, then I’m happy. I know most people have no desire to compete!!! But I do know what it’s like to look at yourself in the mirror one day and be so unhappy and disgusted with what I had allowed myself to become. Having been there myself, I am confident I can help you achieve your goals.
